Gutter Guard for Colorbond® and Corrugated Metal Roofs
Corroguard® is Leaf Stopper’s purpose-built gutter guard system for traditional curved corrugated metal roof profiles, including many Colorbond® corrugated roofs commonly found across Australia.
Leaves, twigs, bark and wind-blown debris can accumulate in exposed gutters, restricting outlets and creating another maintenance job around the home. Corroguard® helps reduce larger debris entering the gutter while allowing rainwater to pass through the aluminium Mesh Shield into the drainage system.
For homeowners, that can mean fewer difficult gutter-cleaning jobs, less time spent working from ladders and greater confidence that the roofline is easier to inspect and maintain before storms, heavy leaf fall and bushfire season.
See How Corroguard® Protects Corrugated Roofs
Watch this overview to see how the Corroguard® system fits a corrugated metal roof and helps protect the gutter beneath it.
Purpose-Built for Corrugated Roof Profiles
Corrugated roofing has a distinctive curved profile. A gutter guard system needs components that follow those corrugations rather than relying on generic clips or a one-size-fits-all fixing method.
Corroguard® uses purpose-designed Corrofast Saddles to secure Mesh Shield at the high points of compatible corrugations. At a traditional external gutter edge, Trimets secure the outer edge of the mesh.
This creates a supported surface extending from the roof towards the gutter edge. The inclined installation helps keep larger debris above the gutter channel, where it can be removed more easily and may move from the surface under suitable dry and windy conditions.
Wet leaves, branches and matted debris can still remain on top of any gutter guard and should be cleared when required.
Part of the Leaf Stopper Roof Protection System Family
Leaf Stopper is not a single universal gutter mesh. It is a family of profile-specific systems developed for different Australian roofs and gutter configurations.
Corroguard®: Traditional curved corrugated metal roofs
TILEGUARD™: Compatible concrete and terracotta tiled roofs
DEK-762™: Compatible DEK-762-style metal roof profiles
DEKGUARD™: Supported flat-based metal roof profiles
Choosing the correct system matters because the roof-side components, fixing method and gutter configuration differ between profiles.
How Leaf Stopper Mesh Shield Works
Mesh Shield forms the protective surface across the gutter. It helps reduce leaves and larger debris entering the channel while allowing rainwater to pass through the mesh apertures.
The correct Mesh Shield depends on the debris surrounding your property, the level of strength required and any applicable bushfire construction requirements.
Watch the Mesh Shield Overview
Choose the Right Mesh Shield
Standard Mesh
Aperture: 3.5mm × 3.5mm
Aluminium thickness: 0.55mm
Best suited to: General leaves, twigs and larger debris
Material: Non-combustible aluminium
Premium Mesh
Aperture: 3.5mm × 3.5mm
Aluminium thickness: 0.80mm
Best suited to: Installations where a thicker, stronger mesh is preferred
Material: Non-combustible aluminium
Premium Mesh has the same aperture as Standard Mesh but uses aluminium that is approximately 46% thicker. It is not a finer-aperture mesh.
Fine Mesh
Aperture: 1.8mm × 1.8mm woven mesh
Aluminium thickness: 0.40mm
Best suited to: Pine needles, fine seeds and smaller leaf matter
Material: Non-combustible aluminium
Bushfire applications: The BAL-rated Mesh Shield option within the Leaf Stopper range
Where Fine Mesh is intended to perform an ember-guard function, confirm the applicable material, aperture and installation requirements with your builder, building certifier or bushfire consultant. Product selection alone does not establish whole-building BAL compliance.
What Comes in a Corroguard® Gutter Edge Kit?
A Corroguard® gutter-edge kit includes the components required to protect a compatible traditional external gutter beside a corrugated roof.
250mm-wide aluminium Mesh Shield in your selected length and mesh type
Trimets to secure the mesh at the compatible external gutter edge
Corrofast Saddles to secure the mesh to the corrugated roof profile
Colour-matched screws for a consistent finished appearance
Always follow the current Corroguard® installation instructions for saddle positioning and component spacing. Do not rely on a universal “every second” or “every third” corrugation rule.
What Comes in a Corroguard® Valley Kit?
Corroguard® valley kits are available where separate protection is required for compatible corrugated roof valleys.
250mm-wide aluminium Mesh Shield in your selected length and mesh type
Corrofast Saddles to secure the mesh to the corrugations
Colour-matched screws
Trimets are not required for the valley installation
Valleys can involve complex water movement, roof junctions and flashing details. Follow the relevant installation instructions and engage a roofing professional where the valley is damaged, unusually configured or difficult to access safely.
Protection That Supports Safer, Easier Home Ownership
Cleaning exposed gutters can involve repetitive ladder use, awkward roof access and working around slippery surfaces. This can be especially challenging for older homeowners, people living alone and families who would prefer to spend less time worrying about roof maintenance.
Corroguard® helps reduce the amount of larger debris entering the gutter, which may reduce how frequently extensive cleaning is required.
That does not make the system maintenance-free, but it can make ongoing home care more manageable by:
Keeping larger leaves and twigs above the gutter channel
Making surface debris easier to identify
Reducing concealed leaf accumulation inside the gutter
Supporting easier inspection of the roofline
Reducing the need to repeatedly remove temporary gutter inserts
Providing greater peace of mind when storms or heavy leaf fall are forecast
Suitable for a Range of Australian Properties
Corroguard® may be suitable for compatible corrugated-roof properties affected by:
Nearby trees and seasonal leaf fall
Wind-blown bark, twigs and debris
Regular storms and heavy rainfall
Rainwater harvesting systems
Bushfire-prone surroundings
Recurring gutter-cleaning requirements
Birds or other pests attempting to access the protected gutter edge
A correctly installed system may help reduce access around the protected roof and gutter edge, but it cannot guarantee complete bird or vermin exclusion throughout the building.
Supporting Rainwater Harvesting
Corroguard® can provide an initial layer of debris reduction for homes collecting roof water in rainwater tanks.
By helping reduce leaves, twigs and larger organic material entering the gutter, the system may reduce the load placed on downstream strainers and filters.
It does not replace:
First-flush diverters
Tank inlet screens
Appropriate filtration
Tank maintenance
Water-quality treatment required for the intended use
No Gutter Guard Is Maintenance-Free
Corroguard® is designed to reduce gutter maintenance—not eliminate it.
Fine dust, pollen, silt and small particles may pass through the mesh and settle inside the gutter. Leaves and branches can also remain on the surface, particularly when wet or caught around roof features.
Periodic inspection remains important to check:
The surface of the Mesh Shield
Downpipe entrances
Gutter corners and ends
Roof valleys
Visible fixings and saddles
Fine sediment inside the gutter
Damage following storms or roof work
The appropriate inspection frequency depends on surrounding vegetation, weather, roof design and local conditions.
Plan Future Access with EasyAc®
You may not need to access your gutter or downpipe for years. However, including a removable access point during the original installation means it is already available when an inspection or cleaning task eventually arises.
The EasyAc® range provides screw-free local access through the Mesh Shield without requiring a long section of gutter guard to be removed.
Steel EasyAc®
The original EasyAc® model introduced in 2010
Manufactured from steel
Uses a louvered lid that slides onto the base plate from one end
EasyAc20®
Released in 2025
Longer than the original Steel EasyAc®
Manufactured from aluminium
Available in a range of colours
The lid is positioned beside the slotted tabs and pushed sideways into place
Both models use patented internal tabs that are pushed underneath the Mesh Shield to hold the base plate in place. The lid does not rely on screws, so a screwdriver is not required each time it is removed or replaced.
EasyAc® can provide useful local access near selected downpipe outlets, corners or other maintenance points. It does not automatically clear a blockage further down the downpipe or within underground stormwater infrastructure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will Corroguard® work on a Colorbond® roof?
Corroguard® is designed for many traditional curved corrugated metal roof profiles, including compatible Colorbond® corrugated roofing. Confirm that your roof has the required curved corrugated profile before ordering.
Is Corroguard® suitable for Trimdek or other flat-pan roofs?
No. Trimdek and other supported flat-based metal profiles generally require DEKGUARD™, which uses Gripits secured to the roof pans. Confirm the roof manufacturer and exact profile before choosing a system.
Can I install Corroguard® myself?
Yes, capable DIY customers may install Corroguard® on a straightforward and safely accessible roof. Professional installation is recommended for high, steep, complex or difficult-to-access buildings.
How much gutter guard do I need?
Measure the total linear length of the external gutters and compatible valleys you want to protect. Measure each separate run and allow for the joins, corners and installation details shown in the current instructions.
What kit lengths are available?
Corroguard® kits are available in different lengths, including 5m, 10m, 15m and 30m options, depending on the selected product and configuration.
Does Corroguard® completely stop gutter cleaning?
No. Corroguard® helps reduce larger debris entering the gutter, but fine sediment and surface debris may still require periodic attention.
Can I flush the gutter through Mesh Shield?
Water may be directed through the Mesh Shield to help move loose fine sediment. For more direct local access, consider installing Steel EasyAc® or EasyAc20® during the gutter guard installation.
Is Corroguard® suitable for properties with nearby trees?
Yes. Corroguard® is commonly selected for properties affected by leaves, twigs, bark and other tree debris. Choose Standard, Premium or Fine Mesh according to the size and type of surrounding debris.
Which mesh should I choose for pine needles?
Fine Mesh is generally the most appropriate Leaf Stopper option for pine needles, fine seeds and smaller leaf matter because it has a 1.8mm × 1.8mm woven aperture.
Is Corroguard® suitable for bushfire-prone properties?
All Leaf Stopper Mesh Shield options are made from non-combustible aluminium. Fine Mesh is the BAL-rated mesh option within the range. Confirm the exact gutter-guard and ember-protection requirements for your property with the relevant building or bushfire professional.
Does Corroguard® stop birds and pests?
A correctly installed system may help reduce access around the protected gutter and roof edge. It cannot guarantee complete bird or vermin exclusion throughout the roof or building.
Will Corroguard® prevent every gutter blockage or overflow?
No gutter guard can guarantee this. Drainage performance also depends on gutter fall, gutter capacity, downpipe condition, stormwater infrastructure, rainfall intensity and ongoing maintenance.
Can Corroguard® repair a damaged or poorly draining gutter?
No. Existing corrosion, incorrect gutter fall, blocked downpipes, leaking joins and undersized drainage should be addressed before installing the gutter guard.
Can I still inspect my gutters after installation?
Yes. The gutter and Mesh Shield should remain part of your periodic roof inspection. Adding an EasyAc® access panel can provide removable local access without unscrewing a long section of mesh.
Is EasyAc® included in the Corroguard® kit?
No. Steel EasyAc® and EasyAc20® are optional access products sold separately.
