DEK-762™ vs DEKGUARD®: The Main Difference

The important point is that DEK-762™ does not use Gripits and DEKGUARD® does not use DEKAFast saddles.

If you're unsure which fixing method applies to your roof, identify the profile before ordering rather than choosing the system based on appearance alone.

When Should You Use DEK-762™?

DEK-762™ is designed for compatible metal roof profiles matching the required DEK-762 geometry.

The standard gutter-edge system uses:

DEKAFast saddles secure the Mesh Shield to compatible roof ribs.

Do Not Rely on the Profile Name Alone

Some roof-profile names can be used loosely or may differ between manufacturers and generations.

For this reason, a roof should not automatically be classified as DEK-762™ simply because it is described as a "762", "deck" or Trimdek-style profile.

What Gutter Guard Should You Use on Trimdek®?

Trimdek® is a flat-pan metal roof profile, so do not automatically assume that a DEK-762™ kit is appropriate simply because some profile dimensions appear similar.

For supported Trimdek® applications, start with the DEKGUARD® range and confirm the exact manufacturer and roof profile.

Where a roof has specifically been confirmed against the DEK-762™ technical geometry, follow that product's compatibility information instead.

Why Profile-Specific Gutter Guard Matters

A generic roll of mesh cannot account for every metal roof shape.

The profile affects:

• Where the mesh is supported
• How it is mechanically secured

• How much material is required

Correct profile selection helps create a supported installation that follows the intended Leaf Stopper system design.

It does not guarantee that gutters will never block or overflow. Drainage performance still depends on the complete roof, gutter, downpipe and stormwater system.

Premium Mesh

• Aperture: 3.5mm × 3.5mm
• Thickness: 0.80mm aluminium
• Difference: Approximately 46% thicker than Standard Mesh
• Best suited to: Applications where a thicker, stronger mesh is preferred

Premium Mesh is thicker than Standard Mesh but uses the same aperture. It should not be described as a finer mesh.

Fine Mesh

• Aperture: 1.8mm × 1.8mm woven mesh
• Thickness: 0.40mm aluminium
• Best suited to: Pine needles, fine seeds and smaller debris
• Material: Non-combustible aluminium
• Bushfire applications: Leaf Stopper's BAL-rated Mesh Shield option where applicable

Where Fine Mesh is being selected for a bushfire construction requirement, confirm the requirements applying to the specific property with the relevant builder, building certifier or bushfire consultant.

Fine Mesh alone does not establish whole-building BAL compliance.

Bushfire Considerations for Flat-Based Metal Roofs

Leaves, bark and other organic debris around gutters can contribute combustible material around the roofline.

Reducing larger debris entering the gutter can therefore form one part of broader bushfire preparation.

However, gutter guard should not be described as making a building fireproof or ember-proof.

What Should You Measure Before Ordering?

What About Roof Valleys?

Valley protection should be considered separately from external gutter-edge protection.

Do not assume the components or Mesh Shield width used at the gutter edge are automatically the same for a valley.

Measure valley runs separately and check the current product and installation information for the selected Leaf Stopper system.

Damaged flashing, existing leaks or unusual roof junctions should be assessed before gutter guard is installed.

Can You Install DEK-762™ or DEKGUARD® Yourself?

DIY installation may be appropriate for capable users with a straightforward and safely accessible roof.

Typical preparation includes:

• Cleaning existing debris from the gutter

• Inspecting the gutter for existing damage
• Reading the current installation instructions

EasyAc® is an optional gutter access panel that provides local access through Mesh Shield.

It may make it easier to inspect selected gutter areas or flush loose fine sediment without removing a long section of mesh.

EasyAc® does not automatically clear deep downpipe or underground stormwater blockages.

Which System Should You Choose?

Use this simple rule:

• Traditional curved corrugated roof? Start with CORROGUARD®.
• Roof specifically confirmed as compatible DEK-762 geometry? Use DEK-762™.
• Supported flat-based metal profile? Identify the manufacturer and profile and select the appropriate DEKGUARD® configuration.
• Internal box gutter? Review COMGUARD® instead.
